What would you give up for everything?

Tristan Stone was powerful, commanding, sex incarnate. And he wore it all so well. From the moment his mesmerizing gaze met mine, I had no choice but surrender to everything he was. His power. His decadence. His passion. He was all I never knew I needed.

He wanted to possess me, and I wanted to be his everything. All I had to do was accept what he offered. But everything has a price.

The world he gave me fulfilled my wildest dreams, but would that be enough when the past crashed into the present?

Excerpt for Crash Into Me:

He slid the tie from my neck and undid all his work. “Now you show me what you learned.” I attempted to take the tie from his hand, but he pulled it away and whispered, “On me. Turn around and sit toward me.” Nervous fear shot through me as I stood up, and I hoped I’d be able to turn around without my legs giving out. The dress I wore only fell to the middle of my thighs, so when I straddled him, it was likely to ride up so far my panties would show. I didn’t care about that so much as him knowing that I was already dripping wet just from sitting there pressed up against him. Taking a deep breath, I turned around and climbed on top of his lap. He stared into my eyes, unnerving me, but something held me firm in his gaze. His hard cock pressed against the front of his pants and my damp panties. There was no way he didn’t know how excited he’d made me. I took the tie from his hand and slid it around his strong neck, even as my fingers trembled at the feel of him underneath them. Trying to hide my ignorance of my task, I wrapped the wide end of the tie around the narrow end, but it was no use. I didn’t know what came next. Dropping the two ends of silk, I looked down to avoid his gaze. “I’m sorry. I don’t know how to do this.” “You didn’t listen when I told you how to?” he asked in a voice that was as seductive as it was stern. Shaking my head, I continued to look down at the untied ends of the blue fabric laying against his shirt. “I couldn’t. You were so close, and it was impossible to pay attention to what you were saying.” He slid his hands down my back and cupped my ass to pull me into him, grinding my soaked panties into the thin fabric separating his cock from me. Kneading my flesh through my dress, he whispered near my mouth, “I love how honest you are, Nina. It makes me want to be honest with you.” I wasn’t sure how to answer, but it didn’t matter. As my head swum from the sensations he’d created in me, he pressed his mouth to mine and kissed me. His lips were soft yet demanding, and I eagerly kissed him back, seeking a release of that sweet ache, but his kiss only increased the feeling, making me want more. He nudged his hips off the couch, sliding his cock over my sensitive clit, and I couldn’t stop myself from moaning into his mouth. I didn’t want him to think he had this effect on me so soon, but I was powerless. I wanted him so badly at that moment, I would have done anything to keep his hands on my body.

My review of Crash Into Me

5 Romanticals 🙂

I am going to try to do this book justice in this review. It’s hard to actually put into words how much I LOVED this book. I really adored this book with a passion.
So first off let me say it was very well written. The story line was fun and interesting. It keeps you hooked from page one.
K.M. Scott gives you contemporary romance at its finest.
Tristan is a hunk of a man. A hottie. He owns a chain of very successful hotels. He is very dominate but he also has a side of him that is so sweet. He made the story so inviting for me.
Nina is a beautiful woman coming into her own. Her attitude is great even with the past she had. I really loved her character and could relate to her. For me Nina felt real especially with her past and insecurities.
Tristan and Nina meet one night. What would you give up for everything? This story will pull you in and leave you breathless and wanting more.. much more..
It’s like K.M. took all my fantasies and brought them alive in this book.
The sex is erotic and sensual. I was fanning myself and saying Oh MY!! Oh MY!! hahaha
Oh yes, be prepared for the best ending ever!
All in all this book was a HIT! I can’t wait for the next one in this series…

Book Tour, Guest Post and GIVEAWAY: SEDUCED – Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott

SEDUCED Tour banner

Thanks so much for having us, Dawn and Amanda. I’m here to talk about the guys from the band Oblivion, aka the series Lost in Oblivion written by myself and Cari Quinn. We met five years ago and one of the first things that brought us together…well, besides Nora Roberts LOL…was music. We both LOVE music, so it was only natural that it would end up being the facilitator to our first published series together.

And like the guys we write about, we got a little rebellious about how we went about writing this series. Our Introductory story is a true-blue set up. It showcases the best and worst of our characters in the hopes that you—the reader—will be intrigued enough to want to know more.

But beyond that, the book is about the romance/relationship of the band as a whole. We didn’t want to bog down book 1 with so much of the band creation process. It would have taken away from the romance aspect of the books. We really wanted a good foundation before people read the individual stories.

It does make for a different sort of book. Some will like it, some will be indifferent, and some will hate it. I think that’s the best part of the self-publishing game. If we tried to sell this to an editor we’d get a serious side-eye about it. But here and now we were able to take a chance on a story we needed to tell. And that story is made up of quite the diverse set of people.

We have Simon…the narcissist. On the outside he looks like a good-time Charlie, a boy that’s never grown up. But if you dig a little deeper you’ll see that he’s values his friends and the band much more than it seems.

Then there’s Deacon…the peacemaker. His one job has always been to hold everyone together. Through the addictions, the breakups, the laughter, and the fights…Deacon is their one constant.

Gray…the wildcard. He’s nearly silent in all but his music. He’s a new addition to the band and in love with Jazz, their new drummer. They came as a package deal. Gray is locked up in his own demons based on a shared past between himself and Jazz. They come into the band with enough baggage for six people

Then there’s Nick…the born musician and co-founder of the band that locks his talent in a cage. He hides crippling stage fright under anger and sarcasm. The band is his life—seriously. He can’t live without it.

And finally…Jazz. She is the temptress, the confidante, the glue, and the lynchpin. Her effervescent personality brings life and joy to the group, but she also brings conflict and pain. Two men fall for her, but only one truly owns her heart.

I did mention diverse when it came to the members of Oblivion. Just wait until you see who we match them up with in their individual stories. 😉

Book 1 in the NA rock star series, Lost in Oblivion
Coming in September

Onstage he’s Demon, the unsurpassable bassist.

Offstage he’s the Peacemaker, the mastermind who keeps his volatile band from imploding.

Opening for their idols on their first ever tour, Oblivion is living the dream. That dream becomes a nightmare when Oblivion draws more attention than the headliner and egos clash. Frustrated at being shoved out of his mediator role by their new manager, Deacon McCoy loses himself in brutal workouts only coming up for air long enough to refuel—and that means hunting down the catering truck at odd hours.
Especially the deliciously cute chef who excites his taste buds as much as his body.

The child of roadie parents, Harper Pruitt has heard every pickup line twice. To her, musicians are one step above the scraps on her cutting board. All she wants is to get enough experience to run her own catering company, but Deacon and his bottomless and surprisingly gourmet stomach is too tempting to resist. Before long, she finds herself wanting to experiment with him outside the kitchen.
When Harper sees that Deacon’s sense of responsibility is doing him serious damage, she realizes he’s far from the typical rock star. But as the band’s fame grows, she wonders if she can love a man who doesn’t know how to let anyone in—even her.

You met Deacon McCoy in SEDUCED, now you can watch just how far a big man can fall.

Review: Jessica Sorensen – The Redemption of Callie and Kayden

The Coincidence Series:

Book 2:

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden: Kayden Owens and Callie Lawrence

The Redemption of Callie and Kayden (The Coincidence, #2)

Purchase on Amazon: Jessica Sorensen – The Redemption of Callie & Kayden

Summary:

The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is out. Worse, he’s facing charges for battery. The only way he stands a chance against the charges is if Callie speaks up, something he’ll never ask her to do.

Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But saving him means admitting her secrets aloud. Callie and Kayden are stronger than they think, especially when they’re together. Together they move forward, face their demons, and finally start to heal from their traumatic pasts.

Review:

Jessica Sorensen as done it again, Sorensen has quickly become one of my favorite authors and by far my favorite New Adult author. Callie and Kayden wormed their way into my heart in the first book. Both are just so damaged but trying to make the best of their situations. When we left the first book it was on one of the worst/best cliffhangers ever! It was doozy. When we pick up this book it is right after the events of the previous book. We find out pretty quickly the fate of Kayden.

Even though Kayden survives the knife wound in his side it is played off as a suicide attempt and he is separated from Callie. The beginning of this book is the struggle between Callie and Kayden as they adjust to Kayden’s new situation. When they finally come together it is both heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. Each is so terribly broken, but together they become stronger both as individuals as well as a couple. Together, yet separately they face the demons that have had them running for so long. Sorensen takes on an emotional journey along with Callie and Kayden; she is a master at making you feel what the character’s feel. You laugh, you cry, and you feel frustrated all along with the characters. I definitely cried in this book, tho I cry in almost all of Sorensen’s books. When Kayden recounts his childhood you cry for the child he was and for the man that he is becoming.

Callie also makes you tear up, she opens up more to Kayden about her own trauma and again you feel a loss of a childhood, innocence torn from a young girl. You’d have to be ice to not feel anything for these damaged characters. When Callie opens up to those she needs to most it’s a bit anti-climactic, but at that point it was almost a perfect way to approach it. By this time, Callie was healing, she was moving past her 12th birthday, and she was starting anew and no longer living in her fear. When it all went down, she became the strong one, she had to be. Kayden was there with her in spirit and in body.

This book was definitely steamier from the first and Callie explores her sexuality with Kayden. Although Kayden was the one the experience when he is with Callie, it’s almost like he’s experiencing things for the first time as well. While Callie and Kayden take their emotional journey Seth and Ethan of course are right there with them. Luke, in particular is still a bit mysterious and we want to know more about him; which is a good thing since his book is next and I cannot wait for it. It looks like it’s going to be GOOD and I would not expect anything less from Jessica Sorensen.

Review: Colleen Hoover – This Girl

Slammed Series:

Book 3:

This Girl: Will Cooper and Layken Cohen

This Girl (Slammed, #3)

Purchase on Amazon: This Girl: A Novel

Summary:

From Goodreads.com

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

Review:

This book is a look at Slammed from Will’s POV, their first meeting, what was going through his head when he found out that they could not be together and the other important parts of Slammed. If you have not read Slammed I do not recommend starting with this book as it is not a full accounting of Slammed, but just parts of it.

What I liked about this book besides it’s in Will’s POV is the back and forth between present day (on their honeymoon) and the past. There was a back and forth so you a little bit of their newly married life and those important moments in Slammed that tugged at your heart. And trust, Slammed tugged at your heart and in Will’s POV those moments do not lose that same feeling as from Lake’s POV and in some cases Will might just tug a little more. I didn’t end up crying in this book like I did in Slammed, mainly because I knew what was happening so nothing was a surprise but it was still intense. This was a great retelling from a males perspective. Hoover does a great job of getting into Wills mind and making us feel what he did. Definitely one of the better male POV books I’ve read.

I don’t really feel like this book was necessarily needed to round out this series, I could have left at the end of book 2 and been happy but it is not unwelcome. It was nice to connect with Will and Lake again and feel their breathtaking romance all over again. If you’re a fan of this series you will definitely love this book!

ARC Review: Jessica Sorensen–The Forever of Ella and Micha

The Secrets Series:

Book 2:

The Forever of Ella and Micha: Ella and Micah

The Forever of Ella and Micha (The Secret, #2)

Purchase on Amazon:  Jessica Sorensen – The Forever of Ella and Micha

Expected publication: May 28th 2013 by Forever

Summary:

From Goodreads.com

Ella and Micha have survived tragedy and heartbreak. When they’re together, anything seems possible. But now they are thousands of miles apart, and managing their long distance relationship will put their love to the test.

Ella is back at school, trying hard not worry so much about her future. But with her father in and out of rehab, she’s having a hard time making it through the days. All she wants is Micha by her side, but she refuses to let her problems get in the way of his dreams.

Micha spends his days touring the country with his band, but deep down he knows something is missing. Being away from Ella is harder than he thought it would be. He wants her closer to him-needs her with him. But he won’t ask her to leave college, just to be with him.

The few moments they do spend together are intense and passionate, but it only makes it more difficult when they have to part. They know they want to be together, but is wanting something enough to get them to their forever?

Review:

Since reading THE SECRET OF ELLA AND MICHA I was dying for a copy of the next book! The publication date kept getting pushed back and it seemed like it was never going to come out and then BAM they moved it up! So of course I was stalking and I mean stalking NetGalley like several times a day for a copy to get uploaded and when it finally was I could not WAIT to get home from work to start it. So with such high expectations did it live up to the first book? ABSO-F’N-LUTLY! Maybe it was even better…

As with the first book this was a highly emotional tale. I have to admit something super embarrassing about reading this book. So I was on the treadmill at the gym reading and we got to this part where Ella is telling Micha something deeply emotional to her and I seriously started crying right there on the treadmill at the gym for everyone to see! Embarrassing much too just start crying while in the middle of a work out. Thankfully it was late and mostly empty haha! There were several moments with these two that had me crying or on the verge of it. There’s this letter and I couldn’t help myself with that one. The journey in this book is just as much about Elle and Micha finding their way together as it is finding their way separately as individuals. They both have to take a personal walk through their own demons before they can truly come together. Oh and can I mention just how much more sexy times there are in this book then there was in the first. These two know how to get it on! I think I had to fan myself off a few times. OOOOWWWWEEEEEE!!!!!!!

What I LOVED about this book is how seriously Jessica Sorensen takes mental illness. There is no easy patch or fix for this battle and it is a battle for the rest of your life. My bestest friend in the whole world is bipolar with anxiety disorder. We lived together for 4 years in college so I know how hard it can be from watching her. The endless misdiagnoses’, mood swings, trying different medications until you find one that doesn’t F with your mind, moods, or body. It’s serious and Sorensen treated it as such and for that I commend her. She didn’t take the easy way out.

As a New Adult title I’d have to say this series sticks out from the pack. Yes, the characters have issues, serious ones that they have to overcome but unlike a lot of New Adult they characters aren’t super angsty and acting all stupid using their past as excuses to be asses, or bitchy females that no one wants to be around. To me Sorensen is a stand out author in this genre and in just in general. She is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Oh and I cannot freak’n wait for Ethan and Lila!

Review: Jamie McGuire – Walking Disaster

Beautiful Series:

Book 2:

Walking Disaster: Travis Maddox and Abby Abernathy

Walking Disaster (Beautiful, #2)

Buy it on Amazon:  Jamie McGuire – Walking Disaster: A Novel

Summaries:

From Goodreads.com

Walking Disaster-

Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.
In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes

Beautiful Disaster-

INTENSE. DANGEROUS. ADDICTIVE.
Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

Review:

***Will contain spoilers***

Ok first of all this is misleading. Abby does drink (like a fish) and swear and she’s not a good girl. Travis is obsessive with her, he’s promiscuous and they’re as the name says…a disaster. But there are aspects to it that are addicting. There are a few scenes that are really intense. Before they officially get together, he gets upset by something she says about not dating him. He in turn goes out, gets drunk and brings home 2 girls who he bangs in the living room while she’s in the bedroom. It was one of those “OMG no he didn’t” kind of things. You really felt it. In his book WD, the author decides to make him not remember doing this, because he was too drunk, and although he realizes he did something, she skips over the whole scene. It went from being one of the best to a WTF was that. It felt like a cop-out.

When the one month bet is up and she’s going to go back to the dorm, she sleeps with him. He thinks this is it for them. That they’re together now. She leaves in the middle of the night and wont answer his calls or talk to him. He freaks out and trashes his apartment. Then after him begging and her being a bitch and torturing him and dating a dude he hates they get back together.

As for the Vegas thing… her father is a famous poker player who blames her for him losing his luck when she turned 13. She on the other hand cant lose and grew up in Vegas. She moved to Eastern to get away from the lifestyle and people who knew her. They end up there because her father borrowed money from a dangerous loan shark/mobster and put the debt on her.  Travis beats up his goons when she is short on the money so Travis fights for him since his fighter cant and the debt will be settled. Loan shark offers him tons of cash to go to Vegas and fight for him again.  Travis wants to do it and instead of talking to him and telling him anything she just runs out and wont talk to him.

The only scene that carried over and IMO was even better from his pov, was after they get back from Vegas and she’s broken up with him, he finds her outside on campus and begs her to take him back. Going so far as to get down on his knees and plead with her. It was heartbreaking.

He begs her to go home to Thanksgiving dinner with his dad and 4 brothers cause he didn’t want to tell them they broke up. She goes and cooks, they have a good time. He tells her he still loves her, they end up sleeping together. The whole time she’s thinking she loves him and wants to get back with him too but she doesn’t because he says that he’ll make an effort to be her friend because he wants her in his life. This somehow translates to her that he just wants to be friends. Yes, its as stupid as it sounds and an obvious plot device to keep the story going. Abby is annoying, petty, selfish and childish. Seeing it from his pov only makes those faults even more obvious. So they go months of him pretending to be her friend, her dating that other dude that Travis hates until one night her and her bff America (who is Shepley girlfriend, Travis’s cousin and roommate) has to get something from the apartment. They run into Travis who is drunk and with a girl coming into the house. Its the same scene in both books, both are stupid. Travis asks why she’s there begs her not to leave, she gets all bitchy, saying things like her lipstick is on your face, he tells her he’s lonely, been dying without her. America throws a shitfit saying how could he, he’s such an asshole, yada yada. Mind you they’ve been broken up for months. He hasn’t done anything that whole time but try to be her friend and not harass her. America ends up smacking him in the face and attacking him when he tries to talk to Abby (who does nothing) then gets mad at her bf Shepley cause he tells her to calm down. She tells him he’s on the wrong side, again yada yada. They speed off and then Shepley punches Travis in the face and Travis thinks to himself, I deserved that. What? I know.

They eventually get back together again when he carries her out of a frat party. They go to one of his underground fights where the basement room catches on fire. His brother was there watching Abby while he fought but they get separated and Travis and Abby get out alone. They eventually find the brother, he’s fine.

Now in BD, right after this, Travis and Abby get engaged then call from Vegas telling America they’re married and getting tattoos. Yes its that abrupt. The End.

In WD we get a longer ending. The whole discussion and then telling his father and their friends etc. Then there is a ridiculous epilogue that takes place 11 years later where Travis is an undercover FBI agent and kills the loan shark/mobster from Vegas. We learn his oldest brother is the same and they hand picked him to be this undercover operative out of 1000’s of applicants, and he didn’t even have to apply. It is their anniversary and they now have twins (boy and girl) and Abby has no idea what he does. When he flies home she gives him a gift which is emails between her father and the loan shark.  So Travis can take down her father. Turns out she’s known what he does for a while and I guess she’s also a crazy hacker or some shit. IDK. The End. It doesn’t even feel like the same book. Which of these endings does not belong? kind of thing.

Main issues: Travis ‘s thoughts do not come off as a 19 yr old promiscuous guy who was raised with no female influence. His mother dies when he’s 3, that’s the prologue of WD. He makes several comments about sluts and how he doesn’t respect them if they sleep with him. They obviously don’t deserve any because what self respecting girl would sleep with a guy on the first date or at all really. He doesn’t clarify what makes sluts, slutty exactly just that 90% of women are. There are numerous comments like how if they sleep with a guy then they don’t respect themselves so why should he deign to give them any respect. All girls in both books besides Abby and America are either stupid sorority sluts who are jealous and mean or smart ugly chicks who are also mean. There’s really only one of the smart uglies and its because she’s Abby’s roommate.

Example of Travis thought process. A girl he sleeps with comes up to him and Abby at a bar and he thinks this…

“Ho 101: If the man in your sights is on a date or with a female friend, force him to admit lack of commitment. Creates insecurity and instability.”

I’m sorry but dudes don’t think that way. All of his opinions come off the way a catty female thinks of other women. It actually reads like her personal opinions on women and its crazy offensive and ridiculous. One of the WORST male pov’s I’ve ever read. EVER.

So like I said the scene transitions are really confusing since it obviously fills in the blanks of when Travis was away from Abby but it was done poorly. Its seriously hard to keep up and some of the scenes were completely off. As in her timeline was totally wrong. In between the maybe 2 scenes I mentioned it was pretty boring as well. I kept putting it down. You could not read this without reading BD first and even then you need to read them close together so the scenes are very fresh in your mind.

I gave BD 4 stars and I gave this 2. And that was being nice.

Review:

So I actually read this book twice in the matter of about a week. I had originally given the book a 4 rating but since I read it twice in a week it obviously had an “It” factor that I hadn’t accounted for. I just couldn’t let Ella and Micha go from my mind, they just kept lingering there not letting me move on. I tried starting over books, but Ella and Micha wouldn’t let me. Ever since I’ve read this book, I’ve been stalking Amazon to see if the second book has been posted yet. The publication date is past due so I figure any day now it should go up, but so far, my stalking has not produced book 2. Doesn’t Jessica Sorensen, know I need it like a caffeine addict needs coffee? I’m not even sure why this book got such a firm hold on me but it’s holding on for dear life.

This book falls in the “New Adult category. Which is a genre I’m not that big of a fan of, it seems like a lot of these books just have one dimensional angsty, spoiled, acting out and just making bad decisions for no reason characters. With this book Jessica Sorensen, writes characters that are pretty realistic, complex and not annoying! All of the characters have some emotional baggage and are products of their upbringing but they are trying to get past that. Ella is our more emotionally scarred character in this book. Her father is an alcoholic and her mother emotionally unstable. The only stable thing she had growing up with Micah her next door neighbor and best friend and even now that friendship is starting to blur and change. Because she basically had no supervision her life was spiraling out of control, then she witnesses something no kid should ever have to see, ever. One night her life spins so far out of control she knows she has to change her life. (See a character that is trying to grow). So she runs off leaving everyone and everything behind and changes everything about herself down to her very clothes, she goes from out of control to a very controlled existence. That is until she returns home eight months later. She returns home and everything is the same yet at the same time different. There is one person that she cannot put off and that is Micah. Her rock of old is changing all the rules and suddenly her controlled existence is starting to crumble. I really liked Ella once she started finding herself again. You feel for her and the traumatic events of her life. I really liked how she is trying to get her life together. She could have easily have just let herself keep on spiraling down a path you don’t want to see anyone go down. She may have taken the control a bit far but you can in no way dislike her for it. By the end of the book she seems to find a sort of happy medium where she can still be parts of the old but hold on to the good new pieces as well. Besides her inner turmoil with dealing with previous events she has Micah to deal with. Micah changing all of the rules on her creates a whole other turmoil that she has a hard time dealing with, but really its inevitable. There is only so long anyone can resist Micah.

I loved Micah! He really came to life in this book, when he was throwing one of his charming grins I could easily picture the look on his face. There is no resisting Micah; you don’t even have a chance. He is a man that knows what he wants and is willing to go after it. His dedication to Ella is inspiring. Eight months earlier she left with no word and he never gave up looking for her. When Ella left it was like a piece of him was missing, he just wants his best friend back and is willing to comb the entire country looking for her. Eight months later when he sees Ella and it’s like she is a zombie he is determined to show her that his old friend wasn’t all that bad and there are parts worth saving. So we know that Micah is a loyal friend and a pretty alright guy, who has looked out to Ella pretty much their entire lives; but he is also a talented musican “with dreams of going on the road” and he works on cars. The cars he works on are old muscle cars, which in themselves are sexy as hell, so a hot sexy guy that works on them that is also a musician makes for one irresistible combination. Micah is pretty easy going in general, but he is not without his own issues. When the one thing that has haunted him tries to return he doesn’t quite know how to deal with it. He can’t turn to Ella, she has all of her own shit going on, but he tries to deal with it on his own and is not very successful in that endeavor. His pain about breaks your heart; because you know how strong he is so you don’t want to see him like that. As it turns out Ella can handle his problems as well as her own better than we would have thought..

This story pulls you in right from the start and doesn’t let you go until the end or in my case even after you have finished and have tried to move on. The story is touching and the characters even more so. They each have their own issues that they try to deal with as best as they can and just try to make it through life even as it keeps dumping on them. These characters are not giving up and get along pretty admirably. In addition to Ella and Micah we have Ethan and Lila. Ethan is Micah’s best male friend and it is hinted that he has a troubled past of his own, but he is a pretty rock solid dude. He is a good friend to Micah and remains supportive in any way that Micah needs him. I really liked Ethan as well. He is totally someone I would hang with and probably have a crush on is I was 10 years younger. LOL! Lila is Ella’s roommate and unlike our other characters she comes from a wealthy family, but she has issues of her own. Her family does not seem the most supportive and she basically refuses to go home, and would rather hang with Ella “on the other side of the tracks”. At first you see her as a bit spoiled but she has hidden depths and is more life knowledgeable than anyone gives her credit for in the beginning. Lila and Ethan end up forming an unexpected friendship.

I actually think this book would make a decent movie. I rarely if ever say that, but it’s something I would watch. We have life lessons, muscle cars and racing, dickhead townies, traumatic events, an aspiring musician, parties and good times. This was a completely entertaining and engaging book that I think would translate to film fairly well. I would definitely recommend this book to readers, even if you are like me and tend to stay away from the “New Adult” genre I think you would still enjoy this book, I know I did!
